Leadership
CCC is led by a Governing Board of Elders. In partnership with Lead Minister Mark Ashton and the Management Team (a staff team of Executives and Directors), the Governing Board provides leadership, spiritual oversight, and assists in providing the strategic direction of the church. LEAD MINISTER MARK ASHTON
Mark Ashton is an ordinary guy who serves an extraordinary God. Originally from Glendale Heights, IL, Mark fully committed to follow Jesus at age 18 at the University of Illinois. He met his sweetheart Kelle on his second day of college and married her before graduation. They have four eclectic and phenomenal children: Caleb, Caysie, Josiah, and Haiven. Mark loves to play with his kids, watch sci-fi movies, bike for long distances, coach volleyball, golf poorly, barbecue, and paint. He is a proficient juggler who enjoys Portillo's Hot Dogs, Chipotle, and Giordano's Pizza.
Mark Ashton serves as the Lead Minister of Christ Community Church, a Christian and Missionary Alliance church in Omaha, Nebraska, with about 3,000 people in weekly attendance. Mark began at CCC on April 1, 2006, teaching in a multi-venue environment and providing leadership and direction to a staff of 50. His ministry experience includes serving as the Pastor of Spiritual Discovery at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, IL, and as an Evangelism Specialist for InterVarsity Fellowship in Champaign, IL. Mark holds two Bachelor of Science degrees—in economics and in marketing—from the University of Illinois, and has completed graduate work at Lincoln Christian Seminary, Pillar Seminary, Grace University, and Crown College. Since he is also an ordained minister of the gospel, he likes to brag that his official title is: Rev. Mark Ashton, B.S., B.S., O.M.G.
Mark has spoken at universities, churches, and conferences all over the United States, helping students, professors, families, and professionals discover the powerful love and truth of Jesus. He has taught leaders and led mission trips in fifteen countries on six continents. The international project closest to his heart is the Hospital for Women and Children in West Africa, where over 20,000 babies have been safely born since it opened in 2006. Mark led the charge for CCC to raise over two million dollars to invest in the health of the fourth-poorest nation in the world in the form of women and children's care. In addition to ministries of compassion, Mark is considered a worldwide expert on subjects like introducing people to Jesus, helping churches to become outward-focused, and leading churches. His messages are downloaded over 100,000 times per year in 104 countries.
