Experiencing Jesus in the Heart Language of ASL
Understanding the "heart language" is crucial for truly grasping and experiencing profound concepts. For the Deaf community, the ASLV Bible has been a monumental milestone, as it offers God's word in their native language: Sign Language. Imagine only having access to the Bible in a language other than your mother tongue—it wouldn't resonate as deeply. As Mart Green, CEO of Hobby Lobby, puts it, "We are investing in EROI (Eternal Return on Investment)." With ASLV, we are opening doors for Deaf individuals to see and know Jesus, experiencing the gospel in their heart language.
In a world with over 350 sign languages, only one Bible is fully available in Sign Language, with more translations underway globally. This highlights the significance of the ASLV Bible and the need for such resources.
The Impact of the Jesus Film in ASL
The Jesus Film, produced by Deaf Missions, is another groundbreaking step in making Jesus accessible to the Deaf community. This film is a testament to the power of experiencing faith in one's heart language. Filmed across five states in the U.S. and internationally in Bulgaria, the project involved a predominantly Deaf cast and crew, ensuring authentic representation.
One of the most moving stories from the film's production is about an actor who decided to follow Christ and was baptized on set in December, the same pool used for the baptism scene. This is just one example of how Jesus showed up during the filming process, touching lives in profound ways.
Private screenings of the Jesus Film have already had a significant impact. For instance, after one screening, a viewer told the producer, "I finally understand why you made a movie about Jesus, and how much he loves us." This sentiment echoes across many testimonies, highlighting the importance of having a film in the heart language of ASL.
The Upcoming Premiere at Christ Community Church
The journey doesn't stop here. The Jesus Film will continue to reach different clubs, organizations, and churches through the Faith Content Network. There are 28 upcoming events scheduled from this weekend through December. Additionally, the film has started making waves internationally, touching hearts at a festival in Reims, France.
We invite you to be part of this historical moment. Join us for a special showing of the Jesus Film at Christ Community Church on August 11th. This is a limited premiere, and tickets are available at online. Don't miss this opportunity to witness a film that doesn't require external devices or captions for Deaf viewers—it speaks directly to their hearts.
