For 7th and 8th graders during the month of February, we’ll be teaching God’s truth regarding sex.
Students are being bombarded with messages about sexuality from literally every direction: home, classes at school, music, movies, friends and Facebook just to name a few. Some of these messages are good and others are not. In small groups and on Sunday mornings in WIRED, we’ll unpack what God’s word says about sex, body image, truths about guys and girls and more. We’ll tackle these issues in an age appropriate way, with humor and in truth.
Our hope is that teaching God’s truth about sex opens up dialogue between kids and parents. So, parents, prepare for some conversations! Every week, you can check in here at the blog to catch an overview of that weeks’ teaching and the key Scripture. If you’d like a detailed outline and some suggested questions to get the conversation with your child rolling, all you need to do is drop me an email: klintb@cccomaha.org
This week, February 20th, we’ll be tackling the age old question: How far is too far?
The question students always want to know is: how far is too far? At it’s core, that question is really asking – how much can I get away with in life without technically sinning against God? But, is that really the best question to ask? We’ll talk about how instead of getting as close to that line as we can, there is an even better option for us.
This weeks key Scripture:
“Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22

This week, February 12th, we’ll be talking about the uniqueness of guys and girls.
Besides the obvious, God created guys and girls very differently, even to the point of having different uniqueness’s that drive them. We’ll look at some stereotypical differences such as: girls tend to be more relational, guys tend to be more physical and discover how those stereotypes affect everyday life. We’ll learn about many other things that make guys and girls different, so that we can have a better understanding of how we are wired and how we can respect and interact with the opposite sex.
This weeks key Scripture:
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous– and how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.” Psalm 139:13-15

The series kicks off this week (February 6) with: Distinguishing Truth From Lies
We’re told that sex is a purely physical, no big deal act that everyone is doing. Numerous TV shows portray the virgin as the weird person with an unrealistic faith. But is that really true? In this opening week, we’re going to investigate God’s great plan for our sexuality and discover that the best sex lives are found by following God’s plan.
Key Scripture: Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
Final note: this series is for 7th and 8th grades only, we’re not tackling this topic with Sixers yet.
