On Wednesday, December 3rd, 8:08 is hosting a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament at UNO’s Universtiy Village Clubhouse. It going to start at 8:08pm…and…it’s going to be amazing! The tournament is a fundraiser for a church we sponsor in Modeste, Cote D’Ivoire, Africa. The government is putting a highway through their village, which includes their current meeting place. Because of this, they have been forced to relocate. There is a plot of land they would like to purchase but most people are sustenance farmers and have little to no income. So, they asked us, 8:08 College Community, to raise $7,000 for this plot of land. If they are able to purchase the land, they will expand their church so it will serve as a school too–the first in the village! The government will provide them with a state-funded teacher if they can do this. This tournament is to aid our brothers and sisters in Africa. To enter, a donation of $20 is suggested, but give whatever is on your heart. Prizes should include an Ipod nano, a gift certificate to Best Buy, and poker chips.
